Version 2: Make a Body Check Chart = WORDS
DIRECTIONS: Explain to the child that they will be making a “Body Check Chart” to learn more about their body’s signals.
Provide child with a body outline (2 pages glued together). Decide on the body area(s) to start with. Begin with outside areas (hands, feet, mouth, eyes, ears, noise, voice, cheeks, skin) and then move to inside (muscles, lungs, heart, brain, stomach and bladder). Optional: Use the “Body Check Poster” to review body parts/areas. Encourage the child to describe what they notice or feel in that body area. Using the “body clue” lists, select and print descriptor word(s) on the body outline. Brainstorm strategies that may help when that body clue is noticed.
