Sensory bins are wide based containers of sensory materials used by children to explore with their senses in a playful manner. Their use can have a positive impact on sensory awareness, fine motor skills, play skills, language development, and self regulation.
Place desired quantity of dry beans into a wide based container. Bury the Vocabulary cards throughout the beans. Provide your child with the NOUNS and VERBS Matching Boards. Each time the child finds a card, direct him/her to name the object and then match the card to the correct Matching Board or place each card in the category it belongs (noun or verb).

Bury the North Pole Matching cards throughout the sensory bin. Laminate cards for durability. Add other objects as desired. Encourage your child to explore the bin by stirring, pouring, scooping, squeezing, etc. Provide the child with the Shadow Matching Board. Each time your child finds a character, direct them to name the character and then match the card to it’s shadow on the Matching Board.
Bury the Thanksgiving Matching cards throughout the rice. Laminate for durability. Add other Thanksgiving/Food/Fall objects as desired. Encourage your child to explore the rice by stirring, pouring, scooping, squeezing, etc. Provide the child with the Thanksgiving Matching Board. Each time your child finds a card (part of a whole) in the sensory bin direct them to name the object. Next, match that card to the whole and place on the Thanksgiving Matching Board. For example: Feather = Turkey.
Bury the Halloween Matching cards throughout the sensory bin. Laminate cards for durability. Add other Halloween objects as desired. Encourage your child to explore the bin by stirring, pouring, scooping, squeezing, etc. Provide the child with the Halloween Matching Board. Each time your child finds a Halloween card, direct them to name the object and then match the card to the it's proper place on the Halloween Matching Board.
Bury the Fall Matching cards throughout the sensory bin. Laminate cards for durability. Add other Fall objects as desired. Encourage your child to explore the bin by stirring, pouring, scooping, squeezing, etc. Provide the child with the Fall Matching Board. Each time your child finds a Fall card, direct them to name the object and then match the card to the it’s proper place on the Fall Matching Board.
Bury the Space themed Matching cards throughout the black beans. Laminate cards for durability. Add other space objects as desired. Encourage your child to explore the bin by stirring, pouring, scooping, squeezing, etc. Provide the child with the space Matching Board. Each time your child finds a space item card, direct them to name the object and then match the card to the it’s proper place on the Space Matching Board.
Bury the Spring Matching cards throughout the rice. Laminate cards for durability. Add other Spring objects as desired. Encourage your child to explore the rice by stirring, pouring, scooping, squeezing, etc. Provide the child with the Spring Matching Board. Each time your child finds a Spring card, direct them to name the object and then match the card to the it’s proper place on the Spring Matching Board.
Cut out and glue/tape recycling bin images to the front of cups. Place shredded paper into a wide based container. Bury the recycling cards throughout the paper. Each time child finds a card, they will place into the corresponding cup (recycling or compost bin). Once all cards have been collected and placed into the cups, the child can dump them out on the table. Provide the child with the Sorting Board. Direct them to name the object and then match the card to the it’s proper place on the Sorting Board.
Includes detailed instructions to make colored rice. Once rice is dry combine the colors by placing into a wide based container. Bury the Easter Matching cards throughout the rice. Laminate for durability. Add other objects as desired. Encourage your child to explore the rice by stirring, pouring, scooping, squeezing, etc. Provide the child with the Easter Matching Board. Each time your child finds an Easter card, direct them to name the object and then match the card to the it’s proper place on the Easter Matching Board.
