Bilateral Coordination

Bilateral Coordination

Using Push Pins/Rubber Bands

Use push pins and rubber bands while developing language and academic abilities.  These resources also provide the following benefits:

  • Strengthening the intrinsic hand muscles
  • Developing an effective pinch grasp
  • Bilateral integration of both hands
  • Graded movement of the hands

Holding and manipulating small tools develops hand muscles and a tripod grasp. Children enjoy using a push pin to poke through dotted paper to create a variety of designs.
