All children have a need to chew. It is a part of their natural development. Chewing is one of the ways we learn about the world around us during our first years of life. The chewing behavior can become more of a concern as children age, and the need to chew becomes more destructive and/or disruptive. Chewigem was designed to be a safe, stylish and FUNcitional option for those ages 3+. Older chewers use chewing as a way to self-regulate when they are feeling over stimulated and anxious. Additionally, chewing can help children focus and concentrate by giving them deep oral sensory input, thus limiting other stressors or stimuli that may be seen as a distraction.

An oral sensory system that does not function properly can lead to concerns other than chewing. Delays in speech/communications, poor diet and dental hygiene may also occur if the oral sensory system is not getting adequate stimulation.
